A New Semester

Well October means another semester has begun. I’m now in the first half of my Junior year… hard to believe college is going so quickly. Anyways I’m constantly busy because of my horrible courseload. I shouldn’t complain, because I brought it on myself, but I still will. If you are curious, this is my schedule. Busy busy busy! Labs are basically once every two weeks for my current classes.

Fall 2006 Mini Schedule

If you are interested, I am taking:

  • ECE221 Electrical Devices and Circuits This class is pretty interesting so far- we have covered the physical construction of diodes and now are moving into diode circuits.
  • ECE241 Signals and Systems This class is one of my favorites- we just learned all about convolution and had a brief refresher of LaPlace transforms and a few other math concepts. This class is largely revolving around math right now, but the highlight of the class is that the labs are teaching us MatLab. Finally I’m learning this great program!
  • ECE230 Electromagnetic Waves This class is tough. The homework takes the longest out of all of my engineering classes, and there are a lot of equations and just confusing bits. Maybe part of it is because the teacher moves back and forth between slides so much that it is hard to keep track of what he is doing.
  • CHI101 Introduction to Chinese Well this course is a ton of work- we meet every day of the week and have tons of quizzes and tests. However, it is a ton of fun. Chinese is such an amazing language- and writing the characters makes me feel like I’m playing pictionary. Don’t get me wrong. Pictionary is fun!
  • ECO108 Principals of Economics Economics has always interested me- time to take a class. While class may be slightly boring at times hopefully I’ll learn something useful from it.
  • CS Workshop Leader I’m a workshop leader for Computer Science 170- javascript. This is a pretty easy class to lead- the programming is simple, but it is actually pretty fun to help people out. I’m enjoying it! Also I’m getting paid, and getting some credit because of a workshop leader class I also have to take.
  • ECE Workshop Leader I’m also a workshop leader for an introduction to computer engineering class. Similar to CS WS leader, I get paid and leadership classes.
  • Fearless Leader of Cinema Group. Although this isn’t a class, It takes a lot of time to manage the club. It is a lot of fun though, and we seem to be doing pretty well this year. http://sa.rochester.edu/urcg
  • Classtech! My job! Reduced hours this year, but I still have a 7am shift on Wednesdays. Ouch.
