Summer Internship

Executives

Well, my internship search is finally over! I’ll be going to Hudson, MA! Anyways for anyone who might be interested here are some fun facts. I applied to 39 companies. I emailed 32 alumni of various years. Some responded, some didn’t. There were 25 other companies that I looked at enough to note them down. Most of them were not accepting interns any more, or maybe just didn’t seem that great in the end.

Now, I had a lot of trouble because I’m only a sophmore. Most of my real ECE classes are next year. I actually spoke on the phone with one alumni who was talking about one class that really made him pick his specialty and what he wanted to work with at a job. I looked it up, and I’m taking the class next year. Also, I don’t have any internship experience yet, and experience is very important.

In the end, I got two offers. Both weren’t specifcally with computer engineering as I had first desired, but they were pretty good offers. It was a hard decision to make!

Then, I immediately had to take a drug test (within 72 hours) and had to start looking for housing. Unfortunately, the service they provided was largely useless… but craigslist is awesome! I found something within walking distance and already sent my deposit. I’ll be living with a guy, his gf, and two other interns. Time to focus on studying for finals! Last day of classes is next Wednesday, my last final is the 10th, physics TI training is the 16th, and then go home the 16th! Internship starts the 22nd.
